Our Story

Aidan started Yellow Tail Wood Studio after moving to Canada from Tasmania in 2010. He’d spent years working in graphic design, photography, and residential lighting — and that eye for how light and materials interact shows up in every piece he builds, from a single custom bench to a full room of wall paneling.

Based in Courtenay, on Vancouver Island, Aidan now splits his time between bespoke furniture (think maple and walnut bed-end benches, live-edge tables) and finishing carpentry for custom homes — trim, cabinetry installs, feature walls, saunas, the detail work that makes a room feel finished.

What started as a side project is now a full-time studio. No two jobs look the same, and that’s the point: each one gets built around the space and the person living in it, not off a template.
